Second Foreign Languages in the ENS Degree Program
You can earn credit for a second foreign language as part of the ENS degree (“International” competency).
To do so, you must:
- Complete a minimum of 40 hours of coursework in the chosen language, either at the Paris-Saclay University Language Center or at another institution, and provide proof of attendance.
- Pass an official certification exam in that language demonstrating a minimum B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and provide a copy of this exam. Students at the École Normale may choose, with justification, a beginner-level language course; in which case, the expected level will be B1.
- Submit a reflective report on the benefits of this learning experience.
Details regarding the assessment procedures can be found in the degree regulations.
Warning
To receive credit for the second foreign language (LV2) as part of the ENS degree , students must pass a certification exam, complete 40 hours of coursework, and submit a reflective report.
