The English program at ENS Paris-Saclay primarily leads to careers in teaching and research in English-language studies. These career paths align with the primary educational mission of an ENS.
The majority of students in the English DER program thus pursue careers in higher education or secondary education and become:
- Associate professors at universities (in cultural studies, literature, linguistics, specialized English, etc.) after earning a Ph.D.,
- Certified English professors in higher education (PRAG at IUTs, grandes écoles, or universities),
- Certified teachers in preparatory classes (CPGE),
- Certified teachers in secondary schools.
Other graduates of the École Normale have chosen careers in senior civil service, cultural administration, or international relations, for example.
